Barriers to Using Insurance Coverage for Abortion Care
The University of California-San Francisco is conducting a study to identify the challenges women face when attempting to use their private or public insurance to pay for abortion care. Women’s Health is participating by contributing to a pool of data from abortion providers across the country which will be used by researchers to identify and analyze trends. Results can then be used for advocacy and/or litigation aimed at removing those barriers.
Impact of Health System Changes Resulting from the Affordable Care Act (ACA) on Title X Family Planning Services
The federal Office of Population Affairs is studying Title X providers’ ability to contract with Medicaid and other health plans—identifying successes and barriers commonly encountered— and the ability to bill third parties for services rendered while still maintaining patient con dentiality. Women’s Health participated during a day-long site visit where the OPA interviewed a number of staff members and conducted a focus group with our SHAPErs (teen peer educators) about con dentiality issues and concerns.
Assessment of IUD Utilization and Provider Attitudes towards Contraceptive Access in Public Sector Health Clinics
Medicines360 is a global nonprofit women’s health pharmaceutical company with a mission to expand access to medicines for women regardless of socioeconomic status, insurance coverage or geographic location. Women’s Health is sharing data with Medicines360 regarding the demographics of our patient population that selected an IUD for birth control, in order to determine barriers and how best to expand access to reproductive health care products for women.
